We all become lost at some point on life’s journey. Therapy is a process that helps us find our way. Therapy is a place of non-judgement where you can discuss any topic, no matter how difficult. By doing so, you will gain insight into your patterns in relationships with both others and yourself. You will learn to better recognize and accept the emotions you feel so that you can act on them instead of reacting to them. You will learn how to step back from what you are thinking and feeling so that you can make decisions that move you toward your values. By working collaboratively, we will figure out what the real problems are in your life, look at how you have tried to solve them, and find new ways to move towards the life you want.
I work from an integrative perspective, using a variety of psychological theories to create an individualized treatment for each person I work with. I see therapy as collaborative – we work together to figure things out and find new ways to approach things. You are the expert on you, and I bring an expertise in how we tend to get stuck. We work together to be curious as to where you tend to get stuck, why certain things are so difficult, and how you can try new ways to overcome your obstacles. I encourage you to ask questions and bring concerns and insights with you to each session. In this way, we come to understand what is helpful and unhelpful in your treatment.
It takes great courage to reach out for help, and often the most difficult step is the first one: contacting a therapist. I admire you for making it this far and hope you will take the next step to reach out. Together we can help you find your way.
